part III: Simon

Meet Simon, the neighbor cat who has adopted Dad and Barb and their house. He's such a little lover!

part II: outside the house

As promised, here is part II of my Dad and Barb's house.....

Next up, the final installation...part II: Simon. :)

different strokes

Last week I made an impromptu trip to northern California to stay with my dad and stepmom for a few days. To keep my mind off of the unexpected medical problems that were coming at me from all directions, I decided to walk around their beautiful house and photograph some of my favorite parts of it. There are so many cute (almost whimsical) little vignettes around their house, I loved going on my little treasure hunt!

Here is part 1: inside the house...

I'll share part 2 (outside the house) in a separate post. Dad....don't scare me like that again!

Don't stop untiI we're
over the goaI Iine.

Don't forget men, today's
the day we're gonna win.

They can't beat us in the fight and
we'II fight, fight, fight, fight!

What do you say, men? Yeah!

not to get too political, but...

.... totally, totally TOTALLY agree with this...

I just love John Stewart and the Daily Show. Sure, he leans a little more to the left than the right (not that I'm complaining about that!), but I love that he'll call out either side for their hypocrisy. This one sure is a doozy, a doozy with HUGE ramifications for the future of our country. Argh, that's all I'm going to say....otherwise I'll get myself all worked up and say something decidedly politically incorrect. :)

I can't even believe this all came from our yard!

First, a few late bloomers have shown up in the last few days despite the cooler weather we've been having (or perhaps because of the cooler weather, I don't really know). Behold, our first pickling cucumber and our first eggplant:

Now, a picture of all the healthy goodness that I gathered from the garden/yard today. We've gotten several zucchini, yellow squash and cherry tomatoes already...but this is the first time that I've gotten a whole basketful all at once. I think it's so exciting to see all of these fresh fruit and vegetables!

The apples and blackberries are going to be turned in to a yummy applesauce, the zucchini will be shredded for bread, and the rest of it will be eaten with dinners over the next few days. I love it! :)
