Happy *belated* Anniversary, L&S!

Sunday was the 1st wedding anniversary for my sister-in-law and her husband! Happy belated anniversary, guys! We had so much fun coming back to good ol' Mizzou last year for your wedding. I don't think I've ever seen Karl dance as much (or have as much fun whilst dancing) as he did at your wedding, and it was so much fun to get to know your Aunt Janet a little better during that week as well. Such a great family.

I hope you did something fun to celebrate over the long holiday weekend!

8 is Great!

Happy birthday to my niece, Sierra! We love you!

love is in the air

Today is the 12th wedding anniversary of my brother (Brian) and his wife (Michelle)! And Tuesday is the 17th wedding anniversary of my other brother (Philip) and his wife (Jill)!

Congratulations to both couples...we love you guys!

party all the time

I've had this arrangement of wedding photos sitting on my cutting table for weeks, and Karl finally hung it up for me today! I still have to paint the 'L' (I'm going to paint it black and distress the edges with brown), and I've got a funny little skeleton picture that I'm going to frame and add to the group....but I LOVE it!

Thanks for hanging all of that today, honey!

Three posts in one day! Guess that's what happens when I take the day off work to get stuff done around the house. :)

Here are a few snippets that made me happy today:

...sweet Cooper and a macro camera setting...

...kitchen organization...

...2 of my favorite cooking items, in 2 of my favorite containers...

...Henry's sweet eyes...

...and a new bird, except I can't figure out what it is? anyone?...

Henry would like to show you a few of his tricks!

(he'd also like you to know that he can shake, spin, stay, sit and a few others too...he's quite the smarty pants)

right now I'm listening to...

  • Fade Into You by Mazzy Star
  • The Story by Brandi Carlile
  • Run by Snow Patrol
  • Dear Mr. President by Pink
  • Punkrocker by the Teddybears w/ Iggy Pop
  • Wild Horses by The Sundays
  • Helena by My Chemical Romance
  • Trees by Marty Casey
  • Somewhere Over The Rainbow by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all of our mothers and grandmothers out there! Whether biologically related or not, we love you for everything that you are. For what you've taught us, what you've given us and what you've shown us...thank you.

(Henry got a haircut...can you tell?)

Here are a few pictures of what I've been up to lately in the yard. I'm growing tomatoes! I planted a few plants that were already started in those cute little teak planters from Ikea, then I started a whole ton of cherry tomatoes from seeds and those are planted in the long planter. If all of those are successful, we'll have tomatoes coming out of our ears before long!

I'm also attempting to grow basil, cilantro, parsley and oregano from seeds. I may be crazy for picking something that takes 75 - 80 days to get a pay-off, but I wanted to at least try it once. The herb pots are sitting on our sweet new (to us) patio furniture that Dan and Leslie gave us. It used to be their kitchen table, but their little family is starting to outgrow it. Since it's teak, it is outdoor-safe...and they gave it to us. Thank you so much guys, we love it! We've eaten out there all weekend.

And see those pansies in the background? Those were planted last September when Susan and Rocky were here, and they've survived all this time through our crazy winter. :)

Happy Sunday!

Happy *very belated* Birthday, Brian!

I lost my blogging mojo for a bit, and I've been MIA. Life's been good, but just a bit unproductive and boring (boring for the blog, anyway).

This past Monday (5/7) was my brother's birthday! I'm woefully behind on getting a card in the mail, and I've even behind on posting a Happy Birthday wish to him here! Sorry, Brian!

He's not likely to actually come to this site very regularly, and even less likely to post a comment, but just in case...I hope you had a supercalifragilisticexpialidocious birthday! And I hope that we'll get to see you this year (or at least maybe talk to you...)!

I was pretty young when I stopped living with my brothers, so I don't have a ton of childhood memories with them. I do, however, shamefully remember one day not too long after the divorce when I was in our kitchen on Alden with Brian, and he asked me if I missed him. I was probably 5 years old or so at the time, and in a typical bratty 5yo style I told him that I didn't miss him at all. Even when pressed, I still told him that I didn't miss him...not even a little bit. If I remember correctly, I was angry that he'd taken the feather duster that I was playing with away from me. Isn't it crazy to still feel bad about that almost 25 years later??

Well, dear brother, I did miss you (still do, in fact). And I'm sorry that I was such a brat that day in the kitchen. Rest assured that I've had almost 25 years of guilt associated with that memory. :)

Another memory I have is more recent, when he came up to Seattle to help celebrate my mom's 60th birthday. Karl, Brian and I stayed up late chatting one night and it was so much fun. I learned so much about my family pre-divorce and mostly pre-me, and that was eye-opening. A whole different group of people from what we all are today, that's for sure!

I love you, Brian!
